Pieces

I'm going to start adding pictures of pieces today(scroll below) and then additional pieces over the course of the next few days. Exact measurements on these two pieces will be added tomorrow.

Unfortunately, no matter how good I get the lighting when I take the photos, colors aren't nearly as nice in picture as in person. For instance, the photos of Mary in the long horizontal full Nativity picture, her headscarf is actually a very rich, eggplant/purple hue, but it appears darker in photos.

Each piece is unique, hand-sketched and then pieced, made with crushed velvet and other velvet textiles, mounted and backed with solid black, and machine quilted.

Cave Nativity Scene

This piece seems to get the quickest immediate reaction when people see it and is probably still my personal favorite. The mottled velvet used for the rocks of the cave is one I've not been able to find anything I like nearly as well, so I've been steering away from other cave-like Nativity settings, even though they are very realistic, because other velvets just aren't doing it justice!

It depicts a cave-like Nativity scene, with mottled brown 'stone' wall and a 'window' to the hills of Bethlehem with the Christmas star shining down. Mary and Joseph attend Baby Jesus in His manger.

Horizontal Full Nativity Piece ~ SOLD

No sooner did I put the piece up on the site, but it sold!

It's now hanging in the former youth room (and original sanctuary) of Rancho Bernardo Baptist Church, which is currently serving as the sanctuary while they are undergoing clean-up, restoration, and rebuilding of their sanctuary which burned during the fires last month.

Website and Pieces

I'll have some of my most recent textile art up on the website by next weekend. There will be samples of past art, ones currently available, and just some examples for anyone interested in a custom made piece.

In other words, check back soon!

In the meantime, I have six pieces up at The Church at Rancho Bernardo for any locals who would like to see them. Four are the individual nativity scenes, one a Bethlehem nativity landscape, and one a seven-foot cross and accompanying Scripture (John 1:14)

If you have questions, would like to be alerted when pieces are available on the website to view or purchase, or you'd like to discuss custom artwork, click here to email me.
